Klion Group Expands Processing of Ukrainian River Fish and Seeks Partners

Найбільший в Україні рибний завод планує переробляти українську річкову рибу і шукає постачальників.

The largest fish processing plant in Ukraine, Klion Group, located in Zaporizhzhia, is actively expanding its production capabilities. The company, which produces products under the Veladis brand, offers over 250 types of products, including canned goods, fish pastes, caviar, burgers, sticks, and minced fish. Every minute, 60 cans of herring come off the production line, and the total production volume reaches 800 tons of finished products per month. The plant currently employs 1,200 people, but a shortage of skilled workers is hindering the possibility of tripling production volumes.

Development Plans and Search for New Suppliers

Despite the proximity to combat zones and the challenging conditions of wartime, Klion Group is confidently building expansion plans. In addition to imported fish, the company plans to develop the industrial processing of Ukrainian river species such as silver carp, carp, and pikeperch. The plant is currently actively seeking partners who can supply stable volumes of this fish. A supplier of silver carp from Cherkasy has already been found, which allows for the gradual establishment of a sustainable supply chain for river raw materials.

Own Fleet and Post-War Development Prospects

Klion Group provides a significant portion of its imported fish through its own fishing vessels, which operate under the Ukrainian flag in Uruguay. Ukrainian ingredients are also used in production: local packaging, oil, and salt. The company is already considering the possibility of starting fish farming in Ukraine after the war ends, which would contribute to greater independence from imports and the development of domestic aquaculture.
