The USA is Displacing Ukrainian Corn from the Spanish Market Due to Price Advantage

Попри скорочення експорту, Україна залишається на четвертому місці серед постачальників продовольства до ЄС.

American corn is gradually capturing an increasing share of the market in Spain, displacing Ukrainian products due to a significant price difference. Traditionally, Ukraine has been one of the key suppliers of grain to Spain, but its share is now decreasing as a result of rising domestic prices.

Ukrainian Exporters are Cautious About Resuming Supplies

Some traders believe that this trend is temporary and the situation may change after the harvest is completed, when a decrease in prices for Ukrainian corn is expected. At the same time, exporters from Ukraine express skepticism about the quick resumption of large-scale supplies to Spain, as high domestic prices continue to hinder exports.

Prices for Ukrainian Corn are Falling

Against the backdrop of an active harvest and decreasing demand from major buyers, the price of Ukrainian corn has dropped to its lowest level in 2025. As of October 6, the price in Black Sea ports for shipments between November 3 and 17 reached $213 per ton, which is $28 less compared to August. This price level was last recorded in December 2024.

“Some traders believe that the situation is temporary and Ukraine will be able to regain competitiveness when the price of domestic corn decreases amid the harvest.”

The new crop grain, which began arriving on the market in October, is being offered at lower prices due to the expected high yield and increased supply. Previously, the pace of harvesting was slower due to unfavorable weather conditions, but now the market is gradually becoming saturated with new products.
