Restoration of Ferry Services and the Role of Ukrzaliznytsia
According to the diplomat, this year, with the assistance of Ukrzaliznytsia, the first ferry services from Ukraine to the South Caucasus have been organized since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia. This has been an important step in strengthening regional ties and enhancing the efficiency of cargo transportation.
“This year, with the support of Ukrzaliznytsia, the first (since the full-scale invasion) ferry services from Ukraine to the South Caucasus have taken place,” said the diplomat.
Expanding the Capabilities of the Trans-Caspian Route
Yuriy Husev emphasized that the active enhancement of logistics capabilities contributes to an increase in the volume of Ukrainian goods delivered to Azerbaijan and, correspondingly, Azerbaijani cargoes to Ukraine. This infrastructure development significantly boosts the competitiveness of both Ukraine and Azerbaijan as transit hubs for cargo flows between China and the European Union.
The diplomat highlighted that the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which connects China with the European market, passes through Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Ukraine, serving as a bridge to EU countries. According to him, Azerbaijan’s strategic geopolitical location allows both countries to strengthen their partnership in logistics and transportation.
Husev noted that the development and expansion of the capacities of this transport corridor is a pressing task that unites Kyiv and Baku within the framework of strategic partnership.
