Strategic Decision Amid Changes in US Policy

According to Irene Gao, Director of Global Development, Bitmain made the decision to open its first factory in the US in response to the new direction of President Donald Trump’s administration. The shift in the government’s approach to crypto assets has created favorable conditions for the industry’s growth. Irene Gao emphasized that this policy supports the technological dominance of the US in the cryptocurrency sector and opens a “unique opportunity” for the company.

The administration’s course under the new President Donald Trump towards US dominance in this field represents a “unique opportunity,” Gao stated. At the same time, it will enable faster product shipments and simplify equipment servicing for American clients.

Plans for Expansion and Production Development

Bitmain first announced its expansion into the US back in December 2024. In the initial phase, the company intends to hire up to 250 employees, which will ensure a rapid launch of production processes and equipment servicing for American users. The first batch of products from the new factory is expected to be released as early as the beginning of 2026, with the facility reaching full production capacity by the end of the same year.

One of the reasons for opening a factory in the US is Bitmain’s desire to circumvent restrictions related to the “trade war” initiated by the new administration. This will allow the company to operate more effectively in the US market and avoid logistical challenges.

It is worth noting that in June 2024, President Trump stated that all remaining bitcoins should be mined in the US. His sons became co-founders of a new venture, American Bitcoin Corp., created in partnership with the mining company Hut 8.
