Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, earned over $57 million in profit from the sale of tokens from the cryptocurrency project World Liberty Financial (WLFI) in 2024. This was revealed in his annual financial report released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

Trump’s Cryptocurrency Assets and Their Impact on the WLFI Project

The report indicates that Trump owns 15.75 billion WLFI tokens, potentially giving him significant influence over decision-making within the company. However, the documentation from the DeFi platform emphasizes that neither Trump nor his sons hold positions as executives, founders, or official owners of World Liberty Financial.

The income from WLFI is just a part of the President’s financial revenues. Other sources include investments in major international companies such as Blackstone, Visa, Microsoft, and Invesco.

“According to the disclosure, Trump also owns 15.75 billion WLFI tokens, which gives him potential voting rights in the company’s management.”

Additional Business Income and Debt Obligations

Donald Trump’s total income for 2024 exceeded $600 million. A significant portion of this amount was generated by golf resorts, licensing agreements, and other business assets. For instance, Trump Endeavor 12 LLC, which owns several golf properties, generated $110 million in profit, nearly double the income from WLFI.

The financial report also mentions 11 outstanding debts, including court judgments in the E. Jean Carroll sexual assault and defamation cases, as well as debts from rulings in 34 criminal cases, the execution of which has been postponed pending appeal. Seven real estate loans exceed $50 million each, including properties like Trump Tower and Trump National Doral.

In March 2025, World Liberty Financial completed a public token sale round for WLFI, raising over $550 million from 85,000 investors worldwide. Trump is featured in the project’s white paper as the chief crypto advocate alongside his sons—Donald Jr., Eric, and Barron.

World Liberty Financial is also promoting its own USD-backed stablecoin, USD1. In early June, an airdrop of USD1 took place for WLFI holders, coinciding with Trump’s open support for the development of stablecoins. It is worth noting that the U.S. Senate recently backed the GENIUS Act legislative initiative regarding stablecoins.

In the political arena, Trump’s cryptocurrency earnings have drawn criticism from Democrats. Democratic Representative Gerry Connolly described Trump’s active involvement in crypto projects as “open corruption.”

Previously, World Liberty Financial sent an official letter of complaint to the developer of Trump Wallet, demanding that work on this product cease.
