The state-owned oil company of the United Arab Emirates, Emarat, known for its network of gas stations, has announced the launch of a service that allows payments at stations using cryptocurrency in partnership with the cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com.

First Implementation of Cryptocurrency Payments at Gas Stations

Initially, the new service will be available at ten Emarat gas stations located in Dubai. Following this, there are plans for a gradual expansion across the entire network of the brand’s gas stations in the MENA region. Additionally, as part of the collaboration, a flagship Emarat x Crypto.com station will be opened in Dubai, which will be part of the global Project Landmark initiative to provide naming rights for gas stations.

Commitment to Innovation and Technology

The company’s statement reads:

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation, rethinking retail convenience, and enhancing the customer experience through modern digital solutions.”

It is worth noting that earlier, another cryptocurrency platform, Binance Pay, in partnership with DK Bank, launched a national cryptocurrency payment tourism system in Bhutan. This indicates the growing interest in cryptocurrency technologies across various sectors of the economy.
