Crypto Assets and Tesla’s Financial Results

In its updated financial report, Tesla emphasized the transition to a new accounting standard, resulting in restated figures for 2024. Under GAAP standards, the company reported $284 million in unrealized gains from digital assets, primarily due to the rise in Bitcoin’s price. In comparison, Tesla’s total GAAP profit in the second quarter was $1.17 billion.

“The value of Bitcoin on Tesla’s balance sheet increased from $951 million at the end of March to $1.23 billion in Q2 2025, according to the quarterly report.”

Bitcoin Volume and Revenue Trends

While the report does not specify the exact number of Bitcoins, the company officially holds 9,720 BTC. Meanwhile, independent estimates suggest this figure could reach 11,509 BTC. Tesla’s total revenue in the second quarter of 2025 amounted to $22.5 billion, which is a 12% decrease compared to the same period last year. The primary reasons for the decline in revenue include reduced vehicle deliveries, lower average selling prices, and decreased income from regulatory credits. A slight increase was only recorded in the services sector and other areas of the company’s business.

In June 2025, Metaplanet surpassed Tesla in terms of Bitcoin under management, marking a notable event in the corporate crypto asset market.
