The Ministry of Development and the UN Development Programme in Ukraine have signed a financial agreement that launches a large-scale program called “Renewable Energy Solutions” with a total budget of €16.5 million. The project aims to build renewable energy infrastructure in social facilities, particularly in schools, hospitals, and kindergartens.

Solar Panels and Heat Pumps for Social Facilities
As part of the initiative, modern solar power plants, heat pumps, and battery systems are planned to be installed at social facilities across Ukraine. Special attention will be given to communities located in frontline regions, as they often face power supply disruptions due to military actions.
“Energy independence is not only a strategic goal but also an urgent necessity for recovery right now,” said the Ministry of Development.
Strengthening Communities and Supporting Basic Services
The installation of renewable energy sources will ensure the continuity of educational and medical services even in the event of power grid disruptions. UNDP representatives emphasize that this agreement plays a key role in Ukraine’s “green transition,” facilitates the rapid implementation of modern solutions, and makes Ukrainian communities more resilient to challenges.
Moreover, the project envisions a comprehensive approach to the country’s reconstruction, taking into account environmental standards and modern energy technologies, which will enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations.
