The Impact of Ukrainians on Poland’s Economic Growth and Contribution to GDP

Як українці вплинули на економіку Польщі?

In recent years, Poland has become one of the twenty largest economies in the world, and Ukrainians have played a significant role in this process. The contribution of Ukrainian citizens to Poland’s economy is five times greater than the aid that Warsaw provides to Kyiv. This was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.

Poland’s Economic Growth and the Role of Ukrainians

Since the onset of the full-scale war by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Poland’s economy has shown steady growth. In 2022, the country’s GDP increased by 1.5%, in 2023 by 2.3%, and in 2024 the growth rate reached 2.7%. Forecasts for 2030 indicate a potential increase to 3.5%.

“A significant part of this is due to Ukrainians, who have largely filled vacant jobs and added value to the Polish economy,” says Bodnar.

Ukrainian Business in Poland

Today, there are about 79,000 private enterprises operating in Poland, employing both Ukrainian and Polish citizens. This contributes to the creation of additional value within the country. Ukrainian businesses, in particular, play a crucial role as they actively develop and integrate local residents into their projects.

As the ambassador noted, last year Ukrainians accounted for 2.7% of Poland’s gross domestic product. This result was made possible by business activity, the creation of new jobs, the operation of Ukrainian enterprises, and the involvement of Poles in joint work. Overall, this generates about 30 billion dollars annually for the Polish economy.
