Ukrainian Exports Decreased by 4.2% in the First Half of 2025

Український експорт за пів року скоротився на 4,2%.

In the first six months of 2025, the volume of goods exported from Ukraine amounted to $20 billion, which is 4.2% less compared to the same period last year. At the same time, imports increased by 15.6%, reaching $38.6 billion. As a result, the negative balance of foreign trade was $18.51 billion, while last year it was $12.43 billion.

Dynamics of Exports and Imports by Main Categories of Goods

The largest growth among export positions was demonstrated by electrical machines – their exports increased by 12.9%, totaling $1.25 billion. Exports of ferrous metals also rose by 5% (to $1.54 billion) and fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin increased by 2.6% (to $3.16 billion). At the same time, the export of grain crops decreased by 24.2%, amounting to $3.99 billion for the first half of 2025.

Growth of Imports and Main Expenditure Items

The main increase in imports was driven by a significant rise in supplies of electrical machines – by 70.7%, totaling $5.56 billion. The import of mineral fuels, oil, and its processed products grew by 21%, reaching $5.14 billion. There was also a noticeable increase in the import of land transport vehicles (excluding rail) – by 7.7% ($4.19 billion) and nuclear reactors, boilers, and machinery – by 7.3% ($3.35 billion).

In the first half of 2025, Ukraine exported goods worth $20 billion, which is 4.2% less compared to January-June last year, and imported goods worth $38.6 billion (+15.6%), … Thus, the negative balance amounted to $18.51 billion (last year $12.43 billion).
