Korean Technology and Experience for Ukraine

The project is based on the modern Korean WtE (waste to energy) model, which involves converting household waste into electricity and heat in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. As Hanna Pozdnyakova pointed out, the waste incineration plant in Warsaw, which was also built by Korean specialists, serves as a model.

“We take the waste incineration plant in Warsaw, built by the Korean side, as a reference project,” the official added.

Functions and Advantages of the New Plant

The estimated implementation period for the project is between three to five years. The main tasks of the plant will include the incineration of residual household waste after sorting, generation of electricity and heat, reduction of landfill waste volumes, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and recycling ash and slag into construction materials.

South Korea will provide technical, engineering, and financial support for the project through the Korean EDCF fund. At the same time, modernization of the site at the Dalnytskiy quarries is planned in Odesa, where waste sorting and production of RDF fuel (alternative fuel from waste) will take place.
