The Ukrainian defense industry has the potential to produce between 7 to 8 million drones annually, provided there is adequate funding. This was stated by the Executive Director of the Ukrainian Arms Manufacturers Association, Ihor Fedirko, who emphasized that such production levels can be achieved in a short time frame.

Drone Production and Dependence on Imports

According to Fedirko, Ukraine currently relies significantly on imported components for drones, especially from China. However, he stressed the need to develop domestic technologies to reduce this dependence. Despite the challenges, the country is already capable of producing fully “Ukrainian” drones, and the cost of domestic parts is gradually decreasing.

“With sufficient funding for the Ukrainian defense industry, the country will be able to produce 7 million drones per year, and with proper planning, this figure can be raised to over 8 million units,” said Ihor Fedirko.

Forecasts for Production Capacity and Exports

The expert estimated that by 2025, the volume of Ukrainian weapon production will reach approximately $35 billion, and by 2026, this figure could rise to $50 billion. Regarding arms exports, Fedirko predicts the official opening of the market within a month, but the first export contracts are not expected until at least the middle of next year.

Furthermore, he stated that after the end of the full-scale war, only those companies that can unite and offer comprehensive solutions in the field of defense technologies will be able to remain in the market.
