A New Stage in Defense Industry Development: Focus on 105 mm Ammunition

The company “Ukrainian Armored Vehicles” plans to begin serial production of M1 105 mm caliber artillery shells as early as 2026. According to the company’s statements, the production facilities will allow for the manufacture of up to 100,000 such shells annually. This will be an important step in forming a domestic line of ammunition, considering the needs of the Ukrainian army and the specifics of combat operations.

Advantages and Prospects of 105 mm Caliber

Although 105 mm artillery is less common than 155 mm, it remains relevant due to its better mobility and camouflage capabilities. The production of this nomenclature will allow for a more flexible response to various front-line requirements. In addition, “Ukrainian Armored Vehicles” has announced plans to manufacture other shells: approximately 240,000 M107 155 mm caliber ammunition is planned to be produced annually, as well as about 60,000 long-range ERFB-BT shells.

This is about forming a domestic line of ammunition capable of partially meeting the army’s needs and reducing dependence on external supplies.

Through such initiatives, Ukraine is taking significant steps to strengthen its own defense potential and increase independence in supplying the Armed Forces with modern weapons.
