BNB Chain Plans to Increase Gas Limit per Block Tenfold by the End of 2025

У BNB Chain заявили про плани зі збільшення ліміту газу в 10 разів

The BNB Chain team has announced significant updates to be implemented in the second half of 2025. The main change will be an increase in the gas limit per block to 1G, which will enhance transaction processing speed and support up to 5000 swaps on decentralized exchanges (DEX) per second. This is ten times the current limit.

Performance Improvements and Innovations in BNB Chain

To achieve greater throughput — 10-20 times compared to current metrics — the team has developed a new client in Rust, based on Ethereum Reth. According to the developers, this solution significantly improves memory efficiency and ensures high network performance.

In 2025, the network will implement so-called Super Instructions — combined standard operations that will accelerate the execution of complex transactions, such as swaps on DEX and token launches. Special attention is given to the StateDB system — a cache that integrates the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and storage in BSC. Optimizing this system is expected to substantially reduce data processing time, as about 30% of the execution time of smart contracts is spent accessing the network state.

Infrastructure Changes and New Opportunities in 2026

Developers are also preparing a complete overhaul of the BNB Chain infrastructure. Key improvements include transaction confirmations in less than 150 milliseconds, processing over 20,000 transactions per second for DeFi, and implementing privacy at the protocol level. A new architecture is planned for launch in 2026, which will ensure instant transactions and privacy by default.

“BNB Chain aims to support 10-20 times higher throughput. A new client in Rust, based on Ethereum Reth, has been developed to significantly enhance memory performance and ensure high efficiency”.

Previously, the network accelerated block processing to 0.8 seconds thanks to the Maxwell hard fork, marking an important step towards improving the efficiency of the BNB Chain ecosystem.
