Ethereum Foundation has launched a contest for auditors to review the Fusaka update, establishing a prize pool of $2 million.

The Goal of the Contest — Finding Vulnerabilities in Fusaka

The main objective of the competition is to identify potential vulnerabilities in the Fusaka update before its implementation on the Ethereum blockchain. The audit is organized on the Sherlock platform, and the contest will last four weeks — from September 15, 2025.

Companies Gnosis and Lido also contributed to the prize pool, providing $100,000 and $25,000 respectively. Rewards will only be given to participants whose tickets are deemed significant according to the established rules. After the contest concludes, all accepted tickets will be reviewed and included in a special report.

Conditions and Additional Incentives for Participants

To encourage auditor activity, the organizers have implemented additional multipliers for rewards: tickets submitted in the first week will receive a x2 multiplier, while those in the second week will receive a x1.5 multiplier. Additionally, the Ethereum Foundation reminded participants of the ongoing Bug Bounty program, which allows for rewards of up to $250,000 for discovering critical vulnerabilities or bugs that affect the entire Ethereum network infrastructure.

Fusaka is a hard fork of the blockchain that includes a number of proposals for network improvements (EIPs). These address, among other things, the project’s preparation for future scaling, optimization of smart contract execution, and measures to enhance security.

The Fusaka update is expected to be released on the Ethereum mainnet in November 2025. Its key objectives include improving performance, enhanced scalability, and strengthening the platform’s security.
