Onur Group Invests in Graphite Deposits, Building Materials, and Green Energy in Ukraine

Золото, будівельні матеріали, енергетика: куди інвестує та чим займається турецька Onur Group в Україні?

The Turkish company Onur Group has decided to abandon gold mining at the Zhovtovodsk gold ore site in the Dnipropetrovsk region due to the insufficient prospects of this deposit. According to the company’s estimates, approximately 4.5 grams of gold were expected to be obtained per ton of ore, but in reality, the result was only 1.4 grams per ton. In 2021, a subsidiary of Onur Group even filed a lawsuit against the State Service of Geology and Subsoil, seeking compensation for discrepancies in the data regarding reserves. However, by April 2025, the company withdrew the lawsuit, opting to collaborate with the agency in a constructive dialogue format.

Investments in Graphite Mining and Building Materials

Currently, Onur Group’s main investment focus is on the graphite deposit in the Khmelnytskyi region. The company plans to commence industrial extraction of this strategic resource as early as 2026.

At the same time, the Ukrainian subsidiary of Onur Group is significantly expanding the production capabilities of its building materials division, EFE. During the full-scale war in Ukraine, over 35 million dollars have been invested in this sector. Of this amount, nearly 15 million dollars have been allocated for the modernization of the ACTU plant, which specializes in the production of dry building mixtures. This has allowed for an increase in the product range from 12 to 50 items in the future.

Focus on Green Energy and International Projects

Onur Group Ukraine is also actively developing its renewable energy sector. By 2030, the company plans to invest about 450 million dollars in this segment, although it was initially projected at 260 million dollars.

In addition to its activities in Ukraine, the Onur Group holding has won a tender for the construction of a high-speed highway in Romania, with a total value of 600 million euros. The project will involve not only equipment but also specialists from the company’s Ukrainian division.
