‘Sławków’ Will Become a Key Transport Hub
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized the importance of expanding the terminal for the country’s economy and cooperation with Ukraine. He noted that the new scale of the hub will not only set European records but will also be a profitable investment for Poland, which seeks to gain economic benefits from participating in Ukraine’s recovery.
“In ‘Sławków’ in Silesia, we will have the largest logistics center of its kind in Europe. It’s not just about breaking records; it will also be a ‘golden deal’ for Poland.”
Terminal Modernization and Its Significance
The ‘Sławków’ logistics hub has a strategic location at the intersection of the broad-gauge railway line (1520 mm) and the European standard gauge (1435 mm). This enables efficient transshipment of containers transported between Asia and Western Europe, particularly through Ukraine. Upon completion of the modernization, the terminal’s capacity will exceed 500,000 twenty-foot containers per year, nearly doubling the current figure of 285,000 containers.
According to Donald Tusk, Poland sees nothing negative in the desire to profit from the reconstruction of Ukraine. The country is ready to help while also seizing new economic opportunities created by the establishment of a large-scale logistics hub.
