SoftBank has initiated a large-scale project to construct a massive complex for robotics and artificial intelligence in Arizona, with a total cost that could reach $1 trillion. The idea is being implemented with the involvement of giants such as TSMC and Samsung, as well as support from the administration of Donald Trump.

Crystal Land: The Manufacturing Hub of the Future

The project, known by the working title Project Crystal Land, aims to create the largest industrial complex in the U.S. focused on the production of robots and artificial intelligence systems. According to experts, this hub could become the American equivalent of Shenzhen, aimed at bringing high-tech manufacturing back to the U.S. The structure of Crystal Land may include robot factories as well as innovation centers for startups from the Vision Fund portfolio.

SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son is discussing with TSMC and U.S. authorities the possibility of building the Project Crystal Land industrial complex in Arizona. The complex, valued at $1 trillion, is set to become the largest manufacturing hub in the U.S. for robots and AI-based systems, reports Bloomberg.

Partnerships, Funding, and Market Impact

Negotiations are currently underway regarding tax incentives, forming partnerships, and attracting startups from the SoftBank ecosystem, including Agile Robots and other AI-oriented companies. The success of the project largely depends on the interest of major tech corporations and support from federal and local authorities.

TSMC, the main chip manufacturer for Nvidia, could play a key role in Crystal Land, having already begun construction of its own factory in Arizona worth $165 billion. However, sources familiar with TSMC’s affairs report that SoftBank’s initiative has not yet impacted the company’s current projects.

Samsung and several other tech companies are also considering participation in the new hub. Funding is planned to be modeled after the construction of Stargate data centers, attracting various investment models. SoftBank may leverage its liquidity of $23 billion and its stake in Arm Holdings as collateral to secure additional funds, as well as combine investments with its existing contributions to OpenAI and the acquisition of Ampere Computing for $6.5 billion.

Analysts are convinced that despite the scale and high risks, the Crystal Land project will allow SoftBank to solidify its position among key players in the artificial intelligence infrastructure and leave a technological legacy. If successfully implemented, this complex will become a significant milestone in the development of the American AI industrial sector and stimulate the return of strategic manufacturing to the U.S.
