State Support for Agricultural Product Insurance: Government Allocates ₴60 Million for Farmers

Уряд запускає державну підтримку страхування агропродукції для сільгоспвиробників.

For the first time, the State Budget for 2026 includes an allocation of 60 million hryvnias to support agricultural product insurance. This government initiative aims to partially compensate farmers for the insurance premiums they have paid: up to 60% of the amount for producers operating in frontline communities, and up to 45% for other farmers.

Insurance Mechanism for Farmers

To receive state support, agricultural producers must contact insurance companies authorized to conduct agricultural insurance in agreement with the National Bank of Ukraine. Currently, such companies include “INGO” and “Universal,” but it is expected that this list will expand, allowing more players to enter the agricultural insurance market.

The Importance of the Program for the Agricultural Sector

“Given the critical importance of the agricultural sector—especially for frontline regions and areas affected by drought—the Government is launching a state support program for agricultural insurance for the first time. In the coming year, this will be one of the key tools for responding to the challenges of climate change and reducing risks for agricultural producers,” emphasized Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev.

The implementation of such financial support will be an important step towards ensuring the stability of the agricultural sector, especially in the context of increasing climate risks and war. The introduced program aims to protect farmers’ incomes, stimulate the development of agricultural insurance, and enhance the financial resilience of agricultural enterprises in Ukraine.
