Ukrainian Retailers Invest in Development and Open New Store Formats

Український ритейл, попри війну, продовжує інвестувати в розвиток.

The first store of the new compact format “EVA Nearby” has opened in the village of Zazymia in the Kyiv region. This format features smaller sales areas and a limited assortment, allowing stores to be located closer to consumers. The cost of launching one such store is up to ₴500,000, while opening a standard EVA requires investments of ₴3–5 million. By the end of the current year, the network plans to open another 10 experimental stores of this type.

Losses and Further Development of the EVA Network

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, EVA has lost dozens of stores—both due to occupation and as a result of attacks from the Russian Federation. In particular, another store of the network was destroyed in Kyiv during an attack on July 21.

Investments and Opening of New Stores

The Terwin Corporation, which includes EVA and Varus, continues to implement large-scale investment projects even under challenging economic conditions. One of the key areas of development is the construction of a modern warehouse complex, WinHub, covering 1 million square meters, into which $700 million is planned to be invested over five years. Over the past year, the total investment in the development of the corporation’s companies reached approximately ₴1.9 billion, and an annual growth rate of 30% is expected for the retail networks EVA and Varus.

In addition, a new semi-finished products store, Multi Cook, has opened in Khmelnytskyi, with an area of 280 square meters. Similar stores are planned to open soon in Vinnytsia and Kyiv.
