Ukrainian Drones Paralyze Russia’s Oil Terminals

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted that if additional long-range weaponry is received from the U.S., Ukraine will effectively use it to defend the country. He stated that Kyiv already possesses drones capable of striking deep within Russia, but Ukraine seeks to acquire another modern weapon system that, in his opinion, would expedite the end of the war.

“This does not mean we will use it. Because if we have it, it adds pressure on Putin to sit down and talk,” Zelensky concluded.

Attacks on Russian Facilities and Consequences for the Energy Market

On September 24, maritime strike drones from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate attacked logistical facilities in Russia along the Black Sea coast. Specifically, strikes were carried out on ports in Novorossiysk and Tuapse. As a result of the operation, the operations of the Transneft oil loading complex “Sheskharis” and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal, located near Novorossiysk, were paralyzed. It was there that the Russian Federation was loading oil onto its shadow tankers. Overall, these transshipment points have the potential to export about 2 million barrels of oil daily. Additionally, maritime drones destroyed the oil loading pier of one of the largest Russian terminals in the port of Tuapse.

On the night of September 25, drones also attacked the chemical plant “EuroChem-Belorichensk Mineral Fertilizers,” located in the city of Belorichensk in the Krasnodar Krai of Russia.

Due to severe disruptions in fuel supply caused by Ukrainian drone attacks, the Russian government plans to extend the ban on gasoline exports until the end of 2025. There will also be restrictions on diesel fuel exports for traders, while producers will still be able to export this product.
