Ukraine Calls on the EU to Increase Investments in Drone Production

Київ закликає Брюссель спрямувати більше коштів на виробництво українських дронів, адже вони утричі дешевші, ніж у ЄС.

During a meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Boyev urged the European Union to direct more financial support towards the development of Ukrainian drone production and modern air defense systems. He emphasized that over 85% of battlefield hits are provided by domestic drone systems.

The Key Role of Funding and the Advantages of Ukrainian Drones

Serhiy Boyev stressed that the effective use of the financial support outlined in the EU package for aiding Ukraine, amounting to €90 billion, must be as flexible as possible. He stated that particular attention should be paid to scaling up drone production, which is critically important for achieving success on the front lines.

“Directing financial support towards increasing the production of Ukrainian drones is a prerequisite for achieving results on the front,” said Boyev, highlighting the need to ensure flexibility in the use of resources within the EU package to support Ukraine totaling €90 billion.

Ukrainian Drones: Economic and Technological Advantage

According to the official, Ukraine is capable of significantly ramping up drone production volumes if sufficient funding is received. Boyev also noted that the production of drones in Ukraine costs approximately three times less than in EU countries. Furthermore, Ukraine is actively developing mechanisms to implement its own combat experience and innovations, which will enhance the defense capabilities of European partners. Thus, investments in Ukrainian drone production will not only strengthen Ukraine’s defense but also contribute to the security of the entire European region.
