Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is actively working to meet the conditions for Euro-integration and intends to ensure the technical readiness of three clusters by mid-summer, which will facilitate the acceleration of the process.
Response from the Hungarian Authorities
“We believe that everyone will support us, except for the relevant country (Hungary),” said the President of Ukraine, referring to the words of the Minister for Euro-integration, who announced that Ukraine will be technically ready for accession by July 1.
“Ukraine wants to join the union of which we are members, not the other way around… Therefore, Kyiv must choose the appropriate tone,” emphasized Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in response to Zelensky’s statements.
Threat to the Hungarian Economy
Meanwhile, Viktor Orban reaffirmed his position, claiming that Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union poses a threat to the Hungarian economy. He called for caution regarding Ukraine’s Euro-integration aspirations.
