New Pig Complex for 10,000 Heads
In addition to the mushroom farm, the city council has also approved the development of a land use plan for a future pig fattening complex near the village of Sokil. The pig complex will be located on a land area of over 15 hectares, with a designed capacity of 10,000 heads. The implementation of both projects aims to develop modern agricultural infrastructure and increase the production capacities of the region.
Increase in State Support for the Agricultural Sector
The State Budget of Ukraine for 2026 provides for a significant increase in funding for the agricultural sector. Expenditures to support the agricultural sector will rise to 14.1 billion hryvnias, which is 4.5 billion more than in 2025. The funds will be directed towards the implementation of programs for demining agricultural lands, risk insurance, the introduction of irrigation systems, the provision of grants and subsidies, accessible crediting, as well as assistance to farmers working in frontline areas.
At the same time, according to the Accounting Chamber, due to the lack of regulation of certain budget programs, a significant portion of state support has been received by large agricultural corporations. In particular, last year, 49 recipients belonging to 31 corporate groups received 16% of the total funding volume.
In 2024 and the first half of 2025, over 5.2 billion hryvnias were directed to support farmers, but only about 33% of farmers from their potential number were able to apply for assistance.
