The spot Bitcoin ETF sector in the US suffered significant losses during the week of May 18 to May 22, 2026, as investors withdrew $1.26 billion from the funds. This marks the fourth largest weekly outflow in the history of this market and the third instance of substantial capital outflow since the beginning of the year.

Top Funds by Outflow and Inflow
The largest losses were incurred by the IBIT fund from BlackRock, with investors pulling out $1.01 billion. Other funds that also experienced capital outflows include:
- FBTC — $111.51 million;
- ARKB — $106.81 million;
- BITB — $9.16 million;
- HODL — $7.59 million;
- EZBC — $6.65 million;
- BTCO — $3.82 million;
- BRRR — $3.79 million.
Meanwhile, the only positive result came from the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), which recorded an inflow of $1.11 million. Some funds, including GBTC, BTC, BTCW, and DEFI, ended the week with no change in capital movement.

Dynamics of Ethereum ETFs and Altcoin Funds
A similar trend was observed among spot Ethereum ETFs, which lost $215.99 million during the same period. The largest outflow was recorded in ETHA from BlackRock — $189.35 million, as well as in:
- FETH — $21.01 million;
- ETH — $10.08 million;
- ETHE — $3.96 million.
Some funds, such as ETHB ($5.52 million) and ETHW ($2.89 million), demonstrated inflows, while ETHV, EZET, QETH, and TETH had no changes in capital.
Despite the negative dynamics in the Bitcoin and Ethereum markets, most altcoin-based exchange-traded funds continued to attract investments. Notably, HYPE-ETF stood out with an inflow of $72.38 million, accompanied by a price record for the asset during the week. However, no investment inflows were observed in the AVAX-ETF and DOT-ETF funds.
In the Hong Kong market, an outflow of 132.47 BTC and 452.62 ETH was recorded.
It is worth noting that in the previous week, the spot Bitcoin ETF sector was also under pressure, with a capital outflow of $1 billion, while the Ethereum ETF segment lost $255.1 million. However, this time the losses for Bitcoin ETFs were even greater, ranking among the largest in the history of the market.
