In September 2025, fully electric vehicles became the most popular among new passenger cars in Ukraine for the first time, capturing a one-third market share. In comparison, this figure was only 15.3% in September of the previous year. By the end of the month, a record 12,113 new electric cars were purchased in Ukraine, which is 5.9% more than in August and 89.2% more year-on-year.

Dynamics of New Car Market Segments
Gasoline-powered vehicles ranked second, but their share decreased from 36.8% to 31.2%. Hybrid models accounted for 20.3% of the market, slightly down from 21.5% in September 2024. Diesel vehicles also lost ground: their share shrank from 26% to 15.3% over the year. Thus, electric vehicles are beginning to set trends in the new car market, displacing traditional internal combustion engines.
Record Sales and Activity in the Used Car Market
In total, Ukrainians purchased over 6,800 new passenger cars in September, marking a record result for the past year. This is 1% more than in August and 20% more than in September 2024. Nevertheless, since the beginning of 2025, the total number of registered new passenger cars reached 52,900, which is 0.3% less than in the same period last year.
At the same time, demand for new trucks and used passenger cars is also rising. In September of this year, 1,113 new commercial trucks and special vehicles were sold, which is 4% more year-on-year and 19% more than in August. Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine’s vehicle fleet has been replenished with 8,650 trucks and special vehicles, which is 7% less than in 2024.
“In September, Ukrainians also registered 22,700 used passenger cars imported from abroad. This is 1.9% less than in August, but 40.2% more than in September 2024.”
Thus, the Ukrainian car market is demonstrating a steady increase in interest in electric vehicles and used cars, indicating a gradual shift in demand structure and a reorientation of consumers towards more modern and environmentally friendly solutions.
