Growth of the Freight Fleet and Agricultural Equipment Imports

According to Deputy Minister of Development Serhiy Derkach, the number of trucks used for international transportation has more than doubled since June 2022, following the introduction of a transport visa-free regime with the European Union. As of the end of the year, there are over 100,000 units. It is noteworthy that during the full-scale war, Ukraine purchased more trucks than in all previous years of independence.

“The number of trucks in Ukraine used for international transportation has increased by over 100% since the introduction of the transport visa-free regime with the EU in June 2022, reaching more than 100,000 vehicles. According to him, Ukraine has bought more trucks during the full-scale war than in all the years of independence.”

Meanwhile, according to the State Customs Service, the volume of tractor imports in the first 11 months of the year reached $762.55 million. This is 5.5% more than in the same period last year. The largest amounts of equipment came from the USA (21.8% of total imports), China (17%), and Germany (16.6%).

Explosive Growth of Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

In November, the Ukrainian vehicle fleet was replenished with over 2,600 hybrid passenger cars, which is 46% more compared to last year. At the same time, the share of new cars among hybrids has slightly decreased – from 66% in November last year to 51% now.

The return of import VAT did not stop the growth in demand for electric vehicles. Last month, they became the sales leaders in the new car market for the first time, occupying 40.9% of the market. Gasoline cars accounted for 26.8% of demand.

Sales of cars imported from China have particularly surged. In November, Ukrainians purchased 3,908 such passenger cars, which is 4.8 times more than last year. Of these, 93% are electric vehicles, indicating an explosive interest in electric transport from China.
