The Significance of Certification for the DeFi Industry
The company emphasizes that undergoing certification has become a key element of the strategy to integrate DeFi with traditional finance. Following its rebranding, 1inch is actively developing interactions with banks and corporate clients, focusing on enhancing institutional trust and compliance with regulatory requirements.
International ISO and SOC standards have previously been applied in the crypto industry, but primarily among centralized companies such as Binance, Coinbase, Trust Wallet, and Chainlink Labs. 1inch becoming the first DeFi project to achieve this level of certification demonstrates its commitment to security and compliance issues.
“Implementing ISO and SOC standards does not contradict decentralization; on the contrary, it helps to ‘speak the same language’ with institutional partners,” emphasized 1inch co-founder Sergey Kuntz.
The ISO 27001 certificate certifies the establishment and maintenance of an information security management system, as well as the completion of a two-stage audit. In turn, SOC 2 Type 1 indicates the reliability of internal controls and risk management processes. For the DeFi industry, this is an important step towards mature financial solutions that meet the expectations of institutional partners.
The 1inch team has expressed its readiness to share its certification experience with other industry participants, which will contribute to raising security standards and corporate responsibility in the field of decentralized finance.
During the audit preparation, 1inch collaborated with consulting firms zeroShadow and Prescient Security LLC. zeroShadow helped develop the control system and evidence base, while Prescient Security LLC acted as an independent auditor confirming compliance with international requirements.
