Bitcoin Whale Moves 1000 BTC After 12 Years of Inactivity: Transaction Details

Черговий біткоїн-кит переказав 1000 BTC після 12 років бездіяльності

After more than a decade of “sleeping,” one of the major Bitcoin holders has activated their wallet and transferred 1000 BTC to new addresses. This wallet had not been used since January 2014, when coins were first credited to it. At that time, the value of Bitcoin was only $847, but at the time of the transfer, their total value exceeded $116 million.

Motives for the Transfer and Market Reaction

Analysts at Lookonchain noted the actions of the crypto whale, highlighting that such activity always piques the interest of the cryptocurrency community. A user under the pseudonym The External Range Trader pointed out that such transactions are often related to security issues or inheritance transfer. He stated:

“Moving to new wallets usually occurs for security or inheritance reasons, rather than for the purpose of selling. However, it does attract market attention.”

AI analyst Alva also explained that early movements of large sums from “dead” Bitcoin wallets are often associated with profit-taking or portfolio rebalancing, rather than panic selling.

Bitcoin Price and Previous Cases

As of mid-September 2025, the price of the first cryptocurrency remains stable near the $116,300 mark. This underscores the significant increase in BTC value over the past 12 years compared to when these coins were deposited into the wallet.

There have been previous instances of old Bitcoin wallets being activated. Notably, another Bitcoin whale recently returned to activity after more than 14 years of inactivity, which also sparked excitement in the market.
