Crypto.com Applies for a Banking License in the U.S. to Expand Custodial Services

Crypto.com подала заявку на отримання банківської ліцензії в США

The international cryptocurrency company Crypto.com has announced its application for a banking license with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This move will allow the company to gain national bank status and significantly expand its range of financial services for institutional clients in the United States.

Expansion of Custodial Services for Institutional Clients

Crypto.com notes that obtaining a banking license will enable the expansion of custodial services for corporate clients and professional investors. In particular, the company plans to focus on the storage and staking of digital assets across various blockchains and protocols, including its own Cronos chain.

With the license, Crypto.com will be able to offer its services nationwide at the federal level. This will strengthen the company’s position in the field of custodial storage of digital assets, especially for clients such as ETFs, corporate treasuries, and other large institutions.

Management Comments and Future Plans

“Building Crypto.com’s products and services through regulated and secure solutions has been our priority from day one. We are excited to take this next step by applying for the license,” commented co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek.

The company emphasized that the application for a banking license does not affect the operations of its subsidiary, Crypto.com Custody Trust Company. It will continue to operate as a licensed custodian under the supervision of the New Hampshire banking department.

It is worth noting that in July 2025, a similar application for a banking license in the U.S. was submitted by Ripple Labs.
