Ethereum community members have a unique opportunity to leave their mark on blockchain history with the launch of the Ethereum Time Capsule. The project was presented by the organizers of the EthCC conference in collaboration with Protocol Guild and Shutter Network, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Ethereum genesis block.

How the Ethereum Time Capsule Works
Anyone interested can contribute to the collective memory of the network by encrypting their own prediction, meme, message, or digital art object. To do this, one should visit the official project website, upload a file, and pay a fee of 0.001 ETH (approximately $2.5). The submission of materials will be open from June 30 to July 30, 2025 — until the anniversary of Ethereum.
All submitted items will be encrypted using Shutter’s threshold encryption. This ensures that no one, including the organizers, can access or alter the content until the capsule is revealed.
“By using Shutter [threshold encryption], the capsule guarantees that no one — not even the organizers — can access or change the content until the reveal. What you send remains sealed until it is time to open Ethereum’s collective memory,” the official statement reads.
Revealing the Capsule and the Future of the Materials
The capsule reveal is scheduled for July 30, 2026, during the celebration of the next anniversary of the network. After that, all the submitted data will be permanently recorded on the Ethereum blockchain, ensuring their immutability and public availability. All collected funds will be directed to Protocol Guild to support the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.
EthCC founder Jérôme de Tisne emphasized that this project not only gathers collective memory but also serves as an important element of the cultural development of the network, fueling its further progress.
