Grayscale Investments Files for a Spot NEAR ETF

Grayscale Investments подала заявку на спотовий NEAR-ETF

Grayscale Investments has announced its intention to convert its trust that invests in the NEAR cryptocurrency into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). The corresponding application has already been submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). If the regulator approves this initiative, the new product will be named Grayscale Near Trust ETF and will begin trading on the NYSE Arca exchange.

Features of the New NEAR ETF from Grayscale

The main goal of the fund is to provide investors with direct access to the NEAR asset, as investments will be made directly in coins. There is also an option for staking the tokens held in the trust. If approved, the issuance and redemption of shares will be managed by The Bank of New York Mellon, while brokerage and custodial services will be provided by Coinbase.

“The goal of this exchange-traded fund is to provide participants with direct exposure to the NEAR asset. The product will invest directly in coins, and it also includes the possibility of staking the trust’s coins.”

Currently, shares of the trust are trading on the OTCQB market under the ticker GSNR, although the product was initially closed to public trading. Grayscale Investments introduced the NEAR-based trust back in May 2024 as part of the expansion of its altcoin-based ETF offerings.

Market Reaction and Competition Among Providers

Together with Grayscale, Bitwise has also filed an application to launch a NEAR ETF, indicating a growing interest in products based on this digital asset among leading market players. However, in light of the news, the NEAR price did not show significant positive dynamics. On January 18-19, 2026, the asset lost value due to a general correction in the cryptocurrency market and has not yet returned to previous levels.
