In September 2025, the cryptocurrency industry suffered significant losses due to hacker attacks, resulting in total damages of approximately $127 million. According to analysts at PeckShield, at least 20 major hacks of crypto projects were recorded during the month.

Main Incidents and Affected Projects

The biggest victims of hacker attacks in September were UXLINK, SwissBorg, Venus, Yala, and GriffAI. The largest incident involved UXLINK — this crypto project lost over $44 million. SwissBorg ranked second in terms of losses, amounting to nearly $41.5 million.

A user of the decentralized protocol Venus lost $13.5 million due to a phishing attack. Meanwhile, a portion of the stolen funds was recovered: of the $13.5 million, the attackers agreed to return $13 million.

Compared to August 2025, when the total losses reached $163 million, the industry’s losses in September decreased by 22%. The list of the largest attacks also included: Yala — $7.64 million and GriffAI — $3 million.

In addition to the mentioned cases, crypto researcher ZachXBT previously reported a potential hack of the SBI Crypto platform, which could have resulted in losses of $21 million.
