Стейблкоїни можуть стати способом зниження витрат на міжнародні перекази — CEO Uber

Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has confirmed the company’s interest in implementing stablecoins as a payment tool to optimize international money transfers. According to him, the use of cryptocurrencies pegged to fiat currencies can significantly reduce costs for global businesses, including those like Uber.

Uber Explores the Prospects of Cryptocurrency Implementation

In a recent interview, Khosrowshahi stated that the company continues to explore the potential for integrating cryptocurrency payments, with a focus on stablecoins. He noted that such digital currencies are highly significant for companies operating in the international space, as they allow for minimizing costs when transferring funds across borders.

“We are still in the exploration phase, but I believe that stablecoins are one of the most interesting forms of cryptocurrency that have practical utility beyond just storing value. Stablecoins are very promising, especially for global companies that conduct international money transfers, as they help reduce costs,” Khosrowshahi remarked.

At the same time, the Uber leader emphasized that the company currently has no clear plans or dates for launching the relevant feature. The process is still in the exploration stage, and no official decisions have been made yet.

Rejection of Bitcoin Investment and Focus on Stablecoins

Dara Khosrowshahi expressed skepticism regarding the company’s investment in Bitcoin, stating that Uber does not plan to follow in the footsteps of companies like Tesla or Strategy. The primary focus is on stablecoins, which provide greater stability and efficiency for financial operations on a global scale.

Uber has also not announced any potential integration of Web3 solutions or the launch of its own cryptocurrency wallets, despite the overall interest in digital payment technologies. The company is concentrating on finding solutions that can ensure transparency and predictability in managing financial flows.

It is worth noting that earlier, back in 2022, Khosrowshahi mentioned the possibility of implementing cryptocurrency payments in Uber. However, these plans have not yet been realized.

Recently, one Uber user fell victim to fraud in London, getting into a fake taxi and losing a significant amount of cryptocurrency due to a so-called wrench attack.
