Growth of Dairy Product Exports for the Quarter

In the first quarter of 2025, Ukraine exported 31,140 tons of dairy products, which is 21% more than in the same period last year, totaling $89.77 million (+62%). The most exported categories remain butter, milk, and cheese. The cost of milk raw materials in Ukraine in March was 28% lower than in Europe, which was an important factor for the growth in demand for domestic products.

Challenges for the Ukrainian Dairy Sector

However, according to Serhiy Vovchenko, a top manager at the Milk Alliance holding, who spoke at the Business Wisdom Summit 2025, European producers, able to offer lower prices for their products, are pushing Ukrainian dairy products out of the markets in the Middle East and North Africa. Therefore, it is crucial to develop effective mechanisms to reduce production costs. He also noted that the termination of the duty-free trade agreement with the EU could pose a serious challenge for the industry.
