In 2024, Ukrainian enterprises significantly increased the production volumes of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Over the year, 1.7 million drones were manufactured in Ukraine, setting a record. In comparison, only 1,200 units were produced in 2022, and 415,030 in 2023. This rapid growth indicates the dynamic development of the country’s defense industry and its ability to respond swiftly to frontline needs.

Expansion of Production and Equipment Range
In addition to drones, 34,700 electronic warfare (EW) and electronic reconnaissance (ER) devices were produced in 2024, significantly exceeding the figures from previous years: only 53 such devices were manufactured in 2022, and 98 in 2023. It is important to note that these figures do not account for the equipment created for charitable organizations, specific military units, city councils, and other structures, further highlighting the scale of Ukraine’s defense industry.

Potential for 2025 and Financial Support for the Industry
The Ukrainian defense sector has the potential to produce over 8 million UAVs and 385,800 EW and ER devices by 2025. Additionally, Ukrainian manufacturers are receiving significant financial support. In particular, the state-owned Oschadbank provided bank guarantees amounting to 837 million euros to four domestic drone manufacturers as part of an agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands. This will enable manufacturers to receive partial prepayment from the Dutch government and expedite the delivery of drones for defense needs. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Oschadbank has already issued loans to defense enterprises totaling 17.5 billion hryvnias.
