The Metinvest Group has completed the acquisition of the Romanian plant ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, located in the city of Iași. The stated maximum capacity of the plant is 240,000 tons of products per year.

Expanding Presence in the EU Market

Metinvest plans to supply pipes produced at the Iași plant for both the European market and reconstruction projects in Ukraine. This facility has become the group’s first production site in Romania, strengthening its position among European steel manufacturers.

Metinvest’s own enterprises in Ukraine, including Zaporizhstal, produce significant volumes of hot-rolled coils. The proximity of the new asset to Zaporizhzhia—about 600 km—will allow for the annual supply of up to 180,000 tons of hot-rolled coils to the Romanian plant. This will ensure the continuity of the production process at ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași.

Integration of the New Asset into the Production Chain

The Metinvest Group plans to fully integrate the Iași plant into its production chain by 2026. Prior to this acquisition, the company did not have its own pipe plants, although pipes were produced at one of the plants in Mariupol before the large-scale aggression by the Russian Federation. In addition to assets in Ukraine and Romania, Metinvest also owns enterprises in Italy, Bulgaria, the UK, and the USA.

The group plans to supply pipes manufactured in Iași to both the EU market and for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
