The business activity expectations index reached 50.8, exceeding the April figure (49.4) and significantly higher than the same period last year (48).

Businesses’ assessments improved due to a number of positive factors, including:
- active consumer demand;
- a stable situation in the energy sector;
- incoming international financial support;
- seasonal characteristics of economic activity.

At the same time, business sentiment was restrained by factors such as:
- increased attacks on critically important infrastructure facilities;
- currency exchange rate instability and inflationary risks;
- a shortage of qualified labor force.
By sector, the business activity expectations indices in May 2025 were distributed as follows: in trade – 50.3 (in April – 51.2, in May 2024 – 47.7), in construction – 51.5 (47.3, 49.8 respectively), in industry – 51.1 (51.8, 48.8), in the service sector – 50.9 (46.3, 47.2).
