Firefly Aerospace Surges 34% After Nasdaq Debut, Valuation Reaches $8.5 Billion

The American aerospace company Firefly Aerospace, founded by Ukrainian Maksym Polyakov, experienced a rapid increase in stock value on its first day of trading on the Nasdaq exchange. The company’s share price rose by more than 34%, allowing it to reach a market capitalization of approximately $8.5 billion. The shares closed at $60.35, and during the initial public offering (IPO), Firefly raised $868 million in investments.

Firefly Aerospace: Achievements and Key Contracts

Firefly Aerospace became the third space company to go public in 2025. Among its clients are well-known industry players Lockheed Martin and L3Harris, as well as investor Northrop Grumman, which invested $50 million in Firefly. Last month, the company secured a $177 million contract from NASA. Earlier this year, the lunar module Blue Ghost, developed by Firefly, successfully landed on the Moon’s surface as part of a mission funded by NASA. Among the company’s notable products is the Alpha rocket, which has already gained significant recognition in the market. Firefly’s order portfolio was valued at approximately $1.1 billion at the end of March 2025.

Ukrainian Roots of Firefly Aerospace

Firefly Aerospace was established in 2014 with the involvement of Ukrainian entrepreneur Maksym Polyakov and maintains a close connection to Ukraine, particularly through the work of engineers and partners in the aerospace sector. The company’s initial developments were based on Ukrainian technologies. As of today, the largest shareholder of Firefly is the private investment firm AE Industrial Partners, which owns more than 41% of the shares.
