Kazakhstan has announced the creation of an innovative experimental zone, CryptoCity, where residents and visitors can legally use cryptocurrencies to pay for goods, services, and other civil transactions. This was stated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during an international conference, emphasizing that the new project will be a key part of the state’s digital strategy.

Development of Digital Infrastructure and Supercomputer
The President emphasized that Kazakhstan is confidently moving along the path of digital transformation, actively investing in digital infrastructure. The launch of the most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia, which has already arrived in the country, is expected to give additional momentum to this direction. This technological base is anticipated to enhance Kazakhstan’s potential in data processing and innovation development.
Strategy: To Become the IT Hub of Eurasia
The country aims to become a leading academic and technological center in Eurasia. To achieve this goal, Kazakhstan plans to open branches of leading international universities, as well as develop strategic partnerships in research and development (R&D) and artificial intelligence. Special attention is given to programs supporting youth, developing the middle class, and strengthening human capital.
The CryptoCity project is set to serve as a testing ground for the legal integration of digital assets into the country’s economic system. According to the President, this will pave the way for simplifying financial transactions, expanding access to modern technological tools, and stimulating the development of domestic IT entrepreneurship.
“The creation of CryptoCity reflects the government’s desire to reform the economy through digital solutions. The project is aimed at simplifying transactions, expanding access to high-tech tools, and stimulating domestic IT entrepreneurship,” the President emphasized.
According to the official position, CryptoCity will serve as a platform for testing the legal integration of cryptocurrencies and is expected to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a regional leader in digital finance and innovation.
