Over 50% of All Ethereum is Staked for the First Time in Network History

понад 50% пропозиції Ethereum перебуває у стейкінгу

The Ethereum Proof-of-Stake contract has, for the first time since the network’s launch, accumulated more than half of the total ETH supply. According to analysts at Santiment, 50.18% of all issued Ethereum (ETH) coins are currently locked in the deposit contract — a record high in the 11-year history of the cryptocurrency.

How Ethereum Staking Works and Its Impact on the Market

Analysts explain that the Ethereum deposit contract address functions as a “one-way safe”: users send ETH to participate in staking, and these coins are temporarily removed from circulation. They become unavailable for spending or trading until the validator decides to end the staking and return the funds to the network.

“Later, when the validator exits and withdraws their funds, Ethereum re-enters circulation as new coins in the main network, rather than being directly extracted from the ‘safe’,” Santiment explained.

The supply of ETH that is staked was calculated based on historically issued coins prior to the implementation of the fee-burning mechanism (EIP-1559). In fact, there are currently about 120 million ETH in circulation, but this figure may fluctuate depending on which coins are considered: before or after burning.

Price Dynamics and ETH Accumulation Trends

At the time of preparing this material, the price of Ethereum exceeds $2000 per ETH. This reflects a stable interest from investors and market participants in the asset, which is gradually strengthening its position amid rising staking volumes.

Previously, CryptoQuant experts reported that so-called “whales” began actively accumulating Ethereum as early as June 2025. This indicates the confidence of major players in the asset’s potential and its resilience in changing market conditions.
