The trade volume between Ukraine and Germany in 2024 has for the first time exceeded the mutual trade volumes between Germany and the Russian Federation. This was reported by Vitaliy Ivashchuk, a representative of the Ukrainian Embassy in Berlin.

“In 2024, for the first time since 1992, when separate statistics for Ukraine and Russia have been kept since the collapse of the USSR, our country has surpassed the aggressor state as a trading partner of Germany,” he said.
Dynamics of Partnership and Key Sectors
According to Vitaliy Ivashchuk, cooperation between Ukraine and Germany is developing not only at the state level but also in the form of interregional and intercity partnerships. Such initiatives create additional opportunities for business contacts at the local level, contributing to the strengthening of economic ties.
Prospects for German Investors
Among the key sectors that have high potential for the development of bilateral cooperation and attracting German investments, Ivashchuk highlighted Ukraine’s reconstruction, energy—specifically, green energy, the IT sector, and digitalization. The defense industry was also noted, where close cooperation has already been established and which shows significant prospects for further growth in the coming years.
