In 2026, there is a significant increase in Ukrainians’ interest in purchasing housing. According to a survey conducted among 8,808 respondents, 23% of Ukrainians plan to buy real estate within the year, while another 31% are considering this possibility in the next five years. In comparison, a similar survey conducted in January 2025 showed that only 12% of respondents intended to purchase housing. At the same time, 46% of those surveyed currently do not plan to buy real estate.

Motives for Purchase and Financial Opportunities
The main reason for purchasing real estate for most Ukrainians remains the improvement of living conditions — this motive was indicated by 43% of survey participants. Another 32% are considering the possibility of obtaining credit funds to make the purchase. For 19%, buying real estate is an investment or a way to preserve savings, while 5% plan to use the future property to develop their own business.
Types of Property and Regional Preferences
The vast majority of those planning to buy prefer residential real estate: 93% favor apartments or houses. Land plots interest 4% of respondents, while commercial real estate attracts 2%. The most popular regions for investing in housing are Kyiv Oblast (35%), Lviv (14%), Odesa (10%), Ivano-Frankivsk (9%), and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (9%).
