A new Telegram laboratory has been presented in Astana, focusing on the development of innovative artificial intelligence technologies. This was announced by the messenger’s founder, Pavel Durov, during the Digital Bridge-2025 forum. The new project has an ambitious goal — to reach over a billion users worldwide through the integration of modern digital solutions.

Partnership with the Kazakh Supercomputer Cluster
According to Durov, the laboratory is being established in collaboration with the Kazakh supercomputer cluster, and its launch is coordinated by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence of Kazakhstan. A distinctive feature of the new project will be the combination of blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies, which will provide Telegram users with access to smart features on a global scale.
“The Kazakh supercomputer cluster will be the main source of energy. Together, we will be able to provide a billion people with transparent, efficient, and confidential use of artificial intelligence,” Durov said.
Infrastructure Expansion and Kazakhstan’s Strategic Role
In recent months, Telegram has significantly strengthened its infrastructure in Kazakhstan, which has greatly improved communication quality for 12 million local users. These updates have laid the groundwork for the launch of the new artificial intelligence laboratory. The specialized center will be located in the city of Astana, with the headquarters situated in the Alem.ai building. The laboratory will operate in partnership with local technology companies.
Pavel Durov also reminded about the opening of Telegram’s first regional office in Kazakhstan and the collaboration with the Astana Hub technopark, which the company became a part of in 2023. The Kazakh authorities have expressed support for the project, emphasizing its strategic importance for the development of digital infrastructure and enhancing the country’s role in the field of artificial intelligence on a global level.
