What is FIFA Blockchain and What Benefits Does It Offer

FIFA stated that the new platform will enhance the performance and scalability of digital collectibles, as well as create a solid foundation for new features and even more active engagement with fans.

“This update will provide better performance, scalability, and create a foundation for new features and interactions with fans,” FIFA’s official statement said.

How Will the NFT Migration Take Place and What Do Users Need to Do

The migration is scheduled for no earlier than May 20, 2025. Users will be informed in advance about the exact launch date and necessary actions. During the process, users will be able to automatically transfer their digital collectibles from the existing platform to the new one without any additional fees or charges.

Changes for users include:

  • automatic transfer of NFTs that have already been purchased to the new platform;
  • no fees or additional charges for migration;
  • instructions will be provided closer to the start of the process, but transferring assets does not require immediate action;
  • remaining active on the new NFT platform unless the user delists them before the migration date.

If users have withdrawn their collectibles from FIFA Collect, they need to re-import them by May 20, otherwise, they will not be automatically transferred. After this date, import will only be possible by contacting support with additional verification.

“The new network will allow integration with MetaMask and other EVM wallets via WalletConnect, while support for Algorand wallets, such as Pera and Defly, will be discontinued,” FIFA reported.

What This Move Means for Fans and the Development of Digital Technologies in Football

This transition is a strategic step towards the development of Web3, allowing FIFA to better control its digital content and offer fans a more dynamic and interactive experience. During the migration period, the FIFA Collect platform will be temporarily unavailable for approximately 12 hours.

It is worth noting that recently FIFA President Gianni Infantino discussed the possibility of creating an official organization token, illustrating further innovation in the football sector.
