Co-founder of Manta Network Reports Hacking Attempt via Zoom

Співзасновник Manta Network розповів про спробу злому в Zoom

The co-founder of the Manta Network project, Kenny Li, recounted an incident where he was targeted for hacking through the Zoom platform. According to him, he received a message on the Telegram messenger asking him to call, after which a video conference on Zoom was scheduled.

During the conference, Li stated that his interlocutor requested access to the camera, which seemed suspicious. He also did not hear the voices of other participants due to an alleged need to update the software. After that, he was asked to download a script, and he ended the call.

Possible Hacking and Suspicions of Lazarus Group Activity

Kenny Li noted that the attempt was aimed at hacking him, and he believes that the criminal group Lazarus Group is behind it. He explained that the attackers were trying to gain access to his device under the guise of a trusted interlocutor. In the comments under the post, users suggested that he might have seen deepfakes or fake faces of the conference participants. To this, Li responded that he could have been dealing with recordings of previous calls that the attackers might have used for disguise.

Additionally, another member of the Manta Network team reported a similar situation where he was asked to download a “business version” of Zoom via a link. Upon refusal, he was directed to the Google Meet service, which raised further suspicions about phishing attacks.
