From 2021, a total of 8,644 new agricultural companies were established in Ukraine, while 3,416 enterprises ceased operations. The largest surge in registrations occurred in 2021, when 2,678 farms entered the market. However, following the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, the number of new companies dropped to 1,558.

Trends in Agricultural Company Registrations and Closures
In 2023, the agricultural sector began to recover: 1,697 new agricultural enterprises were opened over the year. From the beginning of 2025 to July, 869 agricultural companies have already been registered. The closures of enterprises also occurred unevenly: the highest number of companies ceased operations in 2021 (1,070) and in 2024 (685). This year alone, 536 agricultural companies have already closed.
Regional Distribution and Business Relocation
Odesa region led in the number of newly established agricultural companies with 612 enterprises. Following closely are Kyiv with 600 companies, Lviv region (597), Vinnytsia (591), and Dnipropetrovsk (535). At the same time, Odesa region also recorded the highest number of closures – 606 companies.
Dnipropetrovsk ranks second in the number of closed agricultural companies (225), followed by Khmelnytskyi (201), Kyiv region (199), and Mykolaiv region (191). In recent years, 1,738 agricultural companies have relocated their operations to other regions of the country. In particular, 346 agricultural businesses chose the western regions, with Lviv region being the most popular destination (166 companies). There is also significant demand for relocation in Rivne, Volyn, Khmelnytskyi, and Transcarpathian regions.
