As a result of the 2024 season, the profitability of Ukrainian agricultural land showed significant growth. This was the result of a study among 14 leading agricultural holdings that cultivate a total of 1.7 million hectares across eight macro-regions of the country.

Dynamics of Profitability Growth in the Agricultural Sector

At the beginning of the year, experts predicted an EBITDA of $402 per hectare, considering that at that time farmers had sold 72% of the wheat harvest, 65% of sunflowers, and the share of sold corn and soybeans reached 64%. The final results of the season exceeded expectations, driven by positive price dynamics for agricultural products at the beginning of 2025.

Comparison with the Previous Season

In 2023, the actual EBITDA figure was only $129 per hectare, indicating a significant market recovery and a trend towards increased profitability in the cultivation of major crops. The largest jump was recorded in wheat cultivation: from a negative value of -$101 per hectare in 2023 to $244 per hectare in 2024. The profitability of corn increased from $38 to $625 per hectare, barley from $53 to $121, sunflowers from $392 to $724, soybeans from $211 to $259, and rapeseed from $452 to $533 per hectare.

“The results almost completely confirmed the forecasts of income growth due to the positive price dynamics at the beginning of the 2025 calendar year.”
