The European consortium of energy companies H2EU+Store has completed the feasibility study for an investment project to produce green hydrogen in the western regions of Ukraine. Experts have determined that this region has several advantages for the development of large-scale hydrogen infrastructure, including a strong wind and solar potential, necessary water resources for electrolysis, and direct access to cross-border gas transportation routes.

Lviv Region and Prykarpattia — Leaders in Hydrogen Energy
According to a conducted study, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions have been identified as the most promising for the placement of future green hydrogen production capacities. The combination of natural conditions, energy potential, and developed transportation infrastructure makes these regions key to the implementation of this innovative project.
First Stage — Production and Export to the EU
A land plot in the Lviv region has already been selected to start the construction of the plant. In the initial phase, it is planned to produce about 9,000 tons of green hydrogen per year. The entire volume of finished products will be directed for export to Austria and Germany.
“According to experts, western Ukraine has a unique combination of factors for the development of hydrogen infrastructure. The region possesses significant wind and solar potential, sufficient water resources for electrolysis, and access to cross-border gas transportation infrastructure.”
The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of Ukraine’s energy independence and expand its integration into the European energy space.
