Ukraine Accounts for Over a Third of Global Sunflower Oil Exports

Despite the ongoing war, Ukraine maintains its leading position in the global agricultural market. In the current season, the country accounts for 36% of global sunflower oil exports, as well as over 12% of global corn supplies.

Impact of the War on the Agricultural Sector and International Aid

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that following the onset of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine initiated the Grain from Ukraine program, which has helped provide food for millions of people in African and Middle Eastern countries. According to her, since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has exported over 66 million tons of food to countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

“This season, the country accounts for 36% of global sunflower oil exports and over 12% of global corn supplies.”

Key Achievements and Yield Forecasts

According to the Ministry of Economy, in the current marketing year, Ukraine has already exported 5.8 million tons of wheat and ranks among the top six largest global exporters of poultry.

Forbes analysts predict that this year’s corn harvest could be the best in the last four years, reaching 31–31.5 million tons, which is equivalent to about 50% of total grain production. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates the potential harvest volume to be even 32 million tons, with expected corn exports from Ukraine amounting to 24.5 million tons.
